We recently built a new house in the Wichita area.  Doing research for energy efficient products, we came across Arma Coatings of Wichita, Inc. and met Shawn Wardell at the Wichita Home Show.  We were aware of foam wall insulation but did not realize the differences in what was available.  Shawn answered numerous questions and phone calls, as well as provided information for independent research sites so we could further study our options.  We opted for the closed cell foam insulation as it has an increased vapor barrier, superior insulation factors and adds structural strength to the typical stud wall house.  Shawn made us aware of the Dow Structural Insulating Sheathing product which has a decreased installation time compared to traditional products and how it would eliminate “thermal shorts” as well add a continuous layer of insulation and moisture barrier.  We were so impressed by it that we used the Dow product in conjunction with Arma Coatings closed cell foam.  Once these choices were made, we utilized their engineering firm to design the HVAC system.  The engineering firm that sized the HVAC system found that by using the ZERODRAFT Insulated Air Barrier System, our house was so energy efficient we were able to use a smaller, zoned, HVAC system.  We have been pleasantly surprised to find (as Shawn and the engineers projected) our heating and cooling expenses have actually been less than our previous house even though we increased the size by roughly 65%.  We were very pleased with Arma Coatings of Wichita, Inc. and Shawn and would highly recommend them to anyone considering building a new home.
